Eruditus Leads India’s Edtech Sector with ₹3,733 Cr Revenue in FY24

 Eruditus has firmly established itself as India’s top revenue-generating edtech company in FY 2023-24, posting an impressive ₹3,733 crore in revenue. Despite a slight deceleration in growth compared to earlier years, the company achieved a 12.4% year-on-year (YoY) increase from ₹3,322 crore in FY23. This growth, combined with a sharp reduction in operating losses, highlights Eruditus' evolving focus on sustainable and efficient expansion.



Operational Shift Towards Efficiency


Operating on a July-to-June financial calendar, Eruditus—headquartered in Mumbai—has demonstrated a strategic pivot from high-spending growth tactics to more efficient scaling. This approach has helped the company strengthen its financial position, even as the broader edtech market adjusts to post-pandemic realities.


Dominating the Edtech Revenue Charts


With ₹3,733 crore in revenue, Eruditus has outpaced major competitors by a significant margin. PhysicsWallah recorded ₹2,015 crore, and upGrad reached ₹1,487 crore during the same period. Eruditus now generates nearly 1.8 times the revenue of PhysicsWallah and more than double that of upGrad, underscoring its dominance in the sector.


While the 12.4% growth rate may seem moderate compared to previous boom periods, it reflects the industry’s shift from aggressive expansion to financial sustainability. Stakeholders today are prioritizing long-term viability over rapid but costly growth.


Drastic Cut in EBITDA Losses


A key highlight of Eruditus’ FY24 performance is the remarkable reduction in EBITDA losses, which shrank by 83.5%—from ₹417 crore in FY23 to just ₹69 crore in FY24. This improvement signals a disciplined approach to cost management and a maturing business strategy.


Strategic Revenue Management


In a calculated financial move, Eruditus deferred ₹800 crore of collected revenue to the next fiscal year. This revenue deferral likely aligns with longer course durations or phased delivery plans and reflects the company’s intent to maintain steady performance as it pursues higher targets in FY25.


Looking Ahead: A Billion-Dollar Vision


Co-founder and CEO Ashwin Damera has laid out an ambitious roadmap, aiming for over $1 billion in annual revenue within five years. For FY25, the company is targeting a topline of $520–530 million (₹4,330–₹4,420 crore), which would represent a growth of 16–18%. This outlook demonstrates Eruditus' intent to scale responsibly while maintaining operational discipline.
